Career Clusters

Career clusters group similar occupations and the college programs that might lead to careers in those areas. Clusters may aid the search for certificates or degrees.

CTE or States Career Cluster

The CTE cluster organizes occupations into 16 categories, from Agriculture, Food, & Natural Resources to Information Technology. This cluster is valuable to students interested in applied technology.

World of Work Cluster

The WWM Cluster organizes occupations into six groups: Business Contact, Business Operations, Technical, Science & Technology, Arts, and Social Service. The occupations in each cluster are similar in terms of working with:

  • Data: facts, numbers, files, business procedures
  • Ideas: knowledge, insights, theories, new ways of saying or doing something
  • People: care, services, leadership, sales
  • Things: machines, tools, living things, and materials such as food, wood, or metal
This cluster is a good thing to explore for Utah high school students working on a Student Education and Occupation Plan, or SEOP.
