Technology

While engineering focuses on theory and conceptual design, technology (or engineering technology) focuses on the application and implementation of technology in an engineering field. Technologists combine mathematic and scientific basic principles with current engineering standards. Engineering technology is used to test efficiency, improve design, and solve problems related to engineering and manufacturing. A technologist may work under a scientist or engineer in a manufacturing or industrial plant, laboratory, construction site, or a research and development department. Technologists (graduates of four-year engineering technology programs) and technicians (graduates of two-year programs) find careers in construction, manufacturing, product design, testing, or technical services and sales.
